In 2019 General Election achieved the largest swing in the country at 18.5% moving one of the safest seats (23k majority) to a marginal one.

Consulting and supporting executive teams in strategic renew and refresh, commercial business planning, corporate and operational change programmes. Client relationship management of accounts. Incl. management of UK Cabinet Office’s mutuals, cooperatives and small business programme, and a major review and refresh of a national charity.

After a strategic review delivery of IPT's transformation to an organisation fit for purpose, as laid out in its mission and to the direction of its trustees which included the Speakers of both Houses. Developed IPT’s strategic direction, sought and gained buy-in from parliament, senior business leaders and other stakeholders, led a programme of transformation, establishing leadership, strategic management, accountability, appropriate governance and resource and the efficacy of programmes and activities, completed within 18 months. Day-to-day management responsibilities of corporate functions, representational responsibilities, advocacy, management of strategic partnerships with parliament and UK business, and increasing fundraising/revenue streams.

Leadership of staff and volunteers, setting strategic direction, lead advocate and spokesperson, accountable for governance and efficiency, efficacy of purpose. Relationships with government, major business, imperial family to increase funding and profile of refugee issues. Led fundraising, increasing turnover by 400%, scaling up the charity, and incorporating RIJ as an NPO under Japanese law. Served on Board of sister organisation Refugees International, Washington DC, USA.

Development with the local team of the British Council’s communication strategy, information provision and customer relations throughout China.

Responsibility for the profile of the UK in Japan for education, culture and the English language; designing and setting communications strategy and policy and its execution for external (Japan-wide) and internal communications incl. PR, marketing, media relations, web/digital, publications, brand (both brand UK and corporate brand), corporate relations, public affairs, stakeholder management, CRM, partnerships, events, campaigns, customer service and information provision, including libraries and front of house. Built the communications team from two members to a function of over 25 to replicate commercial communications to exploit the UK’s ‘soft power’. This was transformative worldwide for HMG’s delivery of key messages of UK culture, education and language to mass audiences in-country. Delivered the transformation of the information provision and front of house function from traditional British Council library to an information point including the start of digital provision, leading one of the largest change programmes in the British Council’s information provision worldwide, which became transformative for British Council country operations moving forward.

Managed the British Council’s relationship with UK parliament and managed the UK press function, both to influence government policy and funding of the British Council’s work.

Managed Europe-wide project to garner positive coverage in Europe of the UK General Election. Management of partnerships to aid UK’s relationships with EU accession states and the USA.
