Field Organizing Director

Developed a robust, impactful, non-partisan organizing infrastructure to defend and strengthen civil liberties and civil rights in Hawai‘i. Played a key leadership role within the affiliate, working in partnership with all other departments. Designed organizing at the ACLU of Hawai‘i to build long-term political and community power for the civil liberties movement, so that civil liberties and civil rights are better protected. Field team was oriented towards systemic change and policy action. These actions took place in the electoral, legislative, and public education contexts. Oversaw the development and implementation of organizing campaign plans, build campaign goals, strategies, tactics, and budgets to reach objectives on specific issue areas. Supervised and collaborated with Field Organizers. Represent the ACLU of Hawai‘i through public speaking and radio, print, and television interviews; assist as appropriate with news releases and social media outreach. Worked with local and national ACLU staff to implement non-partisan, non-political strategies to educate the public about candidates’ positions on civil liberties and civil rights.
