Western District has been described as "hip,"​ "funky,"​ and "unconventional,"​ with an "eclectic repertoire,"​ by TimeOut HK and HK Mag.Formed in fall 2014, the Hong Kong-based group performs and arranges a wide range of music -- baroque, classical, pop, jazz, tango, Broadway, contemporary, and more. Western District has been featured on CNN Español for its innovative tango shows and has performed live on RTHK Radio 3. The group has performed in Hong Kong's hottest venues such as the Hong Kong Arts Centre and PMQ, even selling out at Fringe Club and Orange Peel Music Lounge.A TimeOut HK review of a recent Fringe concert said, "​...a human performance. It is rare to see classical performers who so clearly get along with one another, who delight in and are moved by the work."The group brings together award-winning musicians with extensive performing experience around the globe, from New York’s Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall to Hong Kong’s Fringe Club and City Hall. Western District draws its name and inspiration from a bustling, ever-changing neighborhood in Hong Kong, where its co-founders reside.
