I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and I am a third generation Mexican-American. I earned my BS in Molecular Biology at MIT in 1987. I started my career in medicine as a phlebotomist & laboratory technician and have always prided myself in "being able to draw blood from a rock!" I attended medical school at the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX where I became enamored with the field of Obstetrics & Gynecology. I completed residency at Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco, after which I worked at CPMC group for a short while before joining the Marin General Hospital Staff and Women's Medical Associates in 2004. I then worked as the MGH OB Hospitalist Director until 2007. WMA then became Prima Medical Group in 2011. I am a board certified OB/GYN since 2006 and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrician and Gynecologists. My professional interests include treating the adolescent patient, and my practice encompasses obstetrical deliveries and gynecologic surgery, such as hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, and abdominal/vaginal surgeries, as well as preventative/well-woman care.
