I work as part of the R&D department to improve the searching and browsing capabilities of our services, helping users to find relevant information in the huge collection of European Cultural Heritage. I am in charge of the search engine configuration and I participate in tasks related to the infrastructure required. In a more strategic facet, I develop the improvement search plans, I implement prototypes and I give advice on its deployment in production. Noisy data also means noisy retrieval, so I also actively participate in enrichment projects, specially in their evaluation. My main current endeavor: establish an evaluation framework for search using user interactions.

As part of the Web Information Systems group, I worked with Claudia Hauff on the design and development of an A/B testing tool that was later used by the students of Information Retrieval in their assignments. I also collaborated in projects related to recommender systems in news environments.

Together with my team, I was involved in designing and implementing technical solutions for different research projects, usually involving large amounts of data. In two of those projects, one jointly with IBM and the EU GrowSmarter project, I worked on the use of ontologies to integrate and manage the heterogeneous data sources from a city. In the EU ASGARD project, I worked on solutions to discover hidden relations in textual data. I was Principal Investigator in the National Project "Semiotic", aimed at exploiting the information obtained from IoT solutions, and I also participated in writing grant proposals.

I participated in public and private research projects related to textual information retrieval and evaluation, and at the same time I accumulated more than 600 teaching hours of experience in undergraduate and postgraduate courses, mainly related to Software Engineering and Information Retrieval. I coordinated the course Advance Information Retrieval Systems for a number of academic years, and I supervised several final degree projects.
