Illinois Science Council is a 501c3 organization that increases awareness and understanding of science and technology among the adult public, and promotes Chicago-area scientists, research advancements and institutions. On behalf of ISC, I secured National Science Foundation grant funding in partnership with Northwestern University researcher for outreach programs about neuroscience and brain research. - Created and produced multiple hands-on “Chemistry for Adults” programs in partnership with local businesses featuring products such beer, chocolate, coffee, whiskey, etc. - Partnered with entities like the Chicago Public Library and independent bookstores on 20+ science author talks. - To date has conceived and executed over 250 public programs in different formats to reach previously untapped audiences ranging from 30 to 3,000 attendees, including the Pi Day "Pi K" Run and the Chicago Science Festival.I continue to design and execute communications activities including: website, e-newsletter, media relations, digital marketing, public presentations, and media interviews. My work involves cultivating mutually beneficial relationships with faculty and staff at universities, museums, national laboratories, and companies and with elected officials for collaborative projects.

Provided strategic advice and guidance to nonprofit organizations and companies on issues requiring tactical planning, government relations, media relations, community outreach and issue advocacy, as well as the planning and execution of high-profile events. Successfully moved tax policy change through the state legislature, city council and county board by making a complex issue compelling to elected officials. Clients ranged from small nonprofits to statewide providers with multiple sites, corporations, municipalities, and labor/management collaborations.

Conceived, developed and executed all projects and events of University's 18-month anniversary celebration, the first ever event of that magnitude at the University. Worked in close cooperation with Northwestern’s President’s office, senior officers, deans, and directors of publications and media relations. Oversaw $2 million budget and managed small staff plus seven interns.Conceived, produced and marketed major events featuring celebrities and VIPs in five U.S. cities with attendance ranging from 300-8,500 people. Managed all publication aspects of 280-page book on the history of the University including marketing, sales and distribution plan resulting in over 3,000 copies sold. Supervised production of award-winning documentary film on the University’s history. Developed site architecture and content for web site.

Managed the site logistics of this nationally televised convention hosting over 35,000 delegates, elected officials and members of the media. Coordinated all projects with DNC departments for transportation, media, production, housing, credentials, legal and security. Acted as liaison to United Center personnel, labor unions, sponsoring corporations, U.S. Secret Service, the Chicago Host Committee and Chicago City Services divisions.
