My experience in higher education administration spans 25 years in roles related to equity, justice, and student success and engagement. I now serve as Vice President for Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at NASPA - Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. Previously I worked at Saint Joseph's University as Assistant Provost for Inclusion and Diversity/Chief Diversity Officer; at Seattle University as Assistant Vice President for Student Development and Director of Multicultural Affairs; at the University of Virginia as Assistant to the Executive Vice President and Assistant Director of Orientation and New Student Programs; at the University of Puget Sound as Associate Director for Student Services; and at Colgate University as Director of the ALANA Cultural Center and as Assistant Director in the Center for Leadership and Student Involvement. I received a master’s degree in counseling and bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Virginia and my doctorate in education from the University of Washington. My dissertation is titled, "Women of Color Chief Diversity Officers: Their Positionality and Agency in Higher Education Institutions." This research appeared in a 2016 article in the Journal of Diversity in Higher Education. Additional research projects have examined intersections of racial and sexual identity development, multiracial student development, and the experiences of dual-career couples in student affairs. With two colleagues, I published a chapter titled "APIA Professional Development Through the Asian Pacific American Network: The Last Four Decades" in Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Higher Education Student Affairs (2011).
