Southern District Of Florida

While working as a contractor for the United States Attorney's Office in the Southern District of Florida (SDFL), I worked closely with and under the direction of the Public Affairs Officer to develop, implement and manage the SDFL's social media strategy. I maintained the SDFL's social media channel as well as internal and external websites, ensuring compliance with Department of Justice (DOJ) standards and privacy rules. Additionally, I drafted and produced social media and online messaging for the SDFL using effective and impactful writing and visuals, considering the USAO's purpose, DOJ's mission, and objectives.In addition to those duties, I supported the Public Affairs Office in its communications efforts. I drafted press releases and talking points based on civil and criminal proceedings; coordinated with local law enforcement and federal partners on disseminating news to online and to the media; and helped organize virtual town halls and recorded video statements from key personnel on topics impacting the local community.

As my career blossomed, I moved to a robust public relations and marketing firm in Coral Gables to represent a variety of clients in the travel, lifestyle, real estate industries as well as non-profit organizations. I held a unique public relations and social media executive position, which included the following responsibilities: formulating traditional and social media strategies; creating and designing engaging PR and social media campaigns and content in support of marketing strategies; managing all media relations garnering relationships with national, international and local journalists; acting as a spokesperson for clients when necessary; and identifying and managing key partnerships that shared clients' communications goals. I also continued to draft press releases and media alerts on key client news while mentoring interns and recent graduates on how best to generate effective media content and report on client coverage.

After graduating from the University of Florida, I worked at a boutique travel-focused public relations agency in Coral Gables where I represented tourism and hospitality clients. I started in a supporting role for various clients, but later grew to become the media relations contact for the government of Costa Rica's tourism board. During my time at the agency, my responsibilities included supporting in the formulation of traditional and social media strategies; garnering relationships with national and local journalists who focus on travel and lifestyle; and supporting the management of key partnerships that shared clients' communications goals. Additionally, I drafted all press releases and media alerts on client news as well as monitored traditional and social media to provide in-depth reporting of client coverage and reputation.

I began my communications career at the University of Florida where I worked as an intern for the newly formed social media department at the university’s public relations office. During my time with the university, I supported the team by creating and executing social media-based campaigns that were representative of the university brand. I also worked alongside graphic designers and videographers to create professional content that encourages online engagement. My duties included managing and engaging daily with the school’s online community as well as generating live content for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram during key university events including admissions day, homecoming and finals week.
