Lectured and coordinated Indonesian Language and Culture programs, at all levels, preparing students for in-country study at university in Indonesia and Malaysia. In my role as coordinator and administrator of the Indonesian Language and Culture Programs I researched and developed the curriculum of all language levels, designed and wrote course outlines, assessment tasks and exams, wrote and implemented student language level assessments, developed excel spread sheets to document student assessments, wrote job advertisements for casual language tutors, organised selection criteria upon which tutors were employed and supervised casual language tutors during term time.Supervised undergraduate and postgraduate theses and in-country student research projects and organised and moderated postgraduate seminar programs.Devised and implemented intensive pre-departure student workshops recapitulating on common areas of cultural difference, workshopping ideas around culture shock as well as developing copping mechanisms and culturally appropriate problem solving skills.Organised student discussion groups with invited guest speakers, film evenings and social events involving the Indonesian communityCompiled an extensive Indonesian student-access media resource and ordered the latest books, magazines and journals to be made available in the library.

Lectured, Intermediate, Advanced and Advanced C Literature strand. Co-ordinated and planned the curriculum of 3rd year Indonesian A and Advanced C literature courses. Tutored Introductory and Intermediate Indonesian Language and Culture during term time and Summer School.Research assistant for the development of Teaching Indonesian as a Foreign Language (TIFL) materials. Designed and implemented a survey and wrote a report for the National Languages and Literacy Institute of Australia titled: “Unlocking Australia’s Language Potential”, Vol.5 Indonesian/Malay This project involved interviewing 100 Australian companies in Sydney and Jakarta about their language needs when doing business with Indonesia.
