Currency Exchange Rate Lookup ServicesIn this project, our client was an Online Exchange rates lookup provider. I was responsible forimplementation and enhancement of various exchange rate lookup services that are used byclient’s customers.Technologies Used: Java, Spring, Hibernate, DynamoDB, Redis• Implemented API call limit throttling mechanism to counter bot traffic, thereby reducingthe load on backend services by 30% and increasing the system uptime by 10%.• Implemented a complex back-up caching mechanism to perform exchange rate lookupwhen primary data sources were not available thereby reducing the API call failure ratesby around 100000 calls per day.• Implemented stress testing suite for business-critical APIs to imitate a peak load of 5Mrequests per hour. This helped in exposing scalability issues in code and infrastructure andfixing them prior to releasing to the customer.• Identified and fixed database connection leaks and memory leaks in Services API codebaseto improve services stability
