About Monika Sigeti
My art practice includes visual arts and new media; topics like personal dilemmas, issues of identity, femininity, sex, intimate spaces vs digital spaces. With a performative approach, I'm interpreting and questioning private and public. I'm playing with the limits of identity along with the boundaries of different media, especially collage. Using an auto-reflective approach to art - I’m expressing very directly my own experiences. I use media such as video, photography, drawing, painting, ceramic and textile sculpture etc.Since 1997, I exhibited in several group and solo exhibitions nationally and internationally, featuring in numerous art publications. Recent significant projects: Oblique Strategies, Alma Gallery, Athens, Greece (2023); Heroine, gallery Pavle Beljanski, Novi Sad (2022); Voice, Body, Language, and Someone, Harvestworks Art and Technology House, New York, USA (2021); Do I need YOU?
