Monique completed a Ph.D. in Education Psychology at the University of New Brunswick. Her area of study was investigating the key relationships that support Canadian Olympians and Olympic hopefuls in overcoming sources of strain. Findings from her Ph.D. research titled: “Chasing the Dream: Understanding the Journey of Canadian High-Performance Athletes, the Nature of the Challenges and the Motivation to Persevere” has been applied not only in the sport system, but also in the education and workplace settings.Monique has coached various teams from young aspiring athletes to university to Canada Games. Dr. Allain continues to work as a consultant in sport psychology with many provincial and national teams, as well as coaching performance enhancement in the workplace. She facilitates team building, mental fitness workshops and offers individual and group coaching sessions, founded on a strength and solution-based approaches. Plans are co-created based on individual and group strengths and identified areas of growth. Through strength based and solution focused techniques, a mental fitness plan is co-designed to include various strategies, such as:• Goal Setting• Affirmation• Focusing Plans and VisualizationDr. Allain is a part time professor at the University of New Brunswick and is a certified guidance counsellor. Monique currently resides in New Brunswick and loves the outdoors, kayaking and hiking with Gracie, her golden retriever.
