As the head of the Five 16 Film Festival's marketing team, I lead a team of creatives. We had several goals that guided our initiatives. Goals:(1) Create a cohesive and artistic brand presence ( through social media) (2) Increase awareness ( on-campus + to the local community/ merch awareness) (3) Promote the Festival ( through targeted Ads + Instagram posts) (4) Share BTS of students projects Through my leadership, we focused on having an aesthetically pleasing Instagram feed, increasing our following by partnering with Northwestern and other student-led organizations on campus. We began to create short video Ads that were targeted to promote and gain awareness of the event these Ads increased our audience retention ( we saw a dramatic increase of views vs. regular posts). - Saw a 173% increase in profile visits-Had a 49% increase in unique Instagram visitsWe created a master sizzle reel of the festival this was a key project created to increase festival awareness. As the previous festival had been postponed due to Covid-19, we wanted to share the excitement of the event giving a taste of the night to previous attendees and new guests! This year I served alongside two other upperclassmen, together we ran Northwestern Productions. We taught and lead our peers with the end goal of creating quality content for our film reels. Northwestern Productions is a film workshop that meets once a week, focused on learning about film and creating short films for the Five16 Film Festival. This fall semester we focused on covering the basics of preproduction, production, and post-production. Challenging our peers by introducing creative exercises with strict guidelines that steered the direction of their stories. The origin of the guidelines was founded on our belief that creativity is often found in necessity. This led to the innovation of some highly imaginative stories that showcased diverse thought. Finally in the spring, we produced 3 films as a workshop. The first “Mission: Festival - United” an opening sequence to open up the film festival. This short film pushed our skills as we maneuvered car chases, stunts, actors, safety, and implementation of VFX! This film has its own score, composed by students in the workshop! The second film “BROKEN” I had the pleasure of directing. This film is a story that deals with major internal demons, an emotional story, of a boxer named “Will”. Beginning during Christmas break I worked with the original writer to develop the script, headed into to pre-pro as school started. We faced many problems, for example, finding locations (i.e. boxing ring), stunts (fight choreography), etc. This film additionally has its own score and VFX work! This film won 4 awards at the Five 16 Film Festival: Best Drama, Best Cinematography, Best Sound Design, and Audience Choice. The final film our workshop produced, “The Narrator”. This was lead by another student in the workshop which won Best Comedy at the Five16 Film Festival.
