- This role involved working with head and neck cancer patients pre-treatment, acute inpatients and outpatients following treatment (surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy)- Carrying out baseline assessments (oral mechanism examinations, swallowing observations) and problem solving possible effects to speech and swallowing- Working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and understanding the role of other professionals - Assessing, analysing, interpreting and comparing complex information gathered from SLT assessments and observations, information from MDT, and the patient's medical file and devising appropriate intervention; seeking and using relevant second opinions on more complex cases.- Observing and assisting in laryngectomy valve changes.
