Molecular biologist at the University of Cambridge, in the final year of my PhD in Pathology. I am passionate about using techniques in genetics, molecular biology, proteomics and bioinformatics to target disease including cancer and parasites. I have been working on Malaria, a global killer, and opening up greater understanding of some mechanisms that could be the key to resistance, during my PhD. I have focused on DNA damage and repair mechanisms through my masters and PhD, many of these playing important roles in other diseases. I have learnt many skills during my PhD including culturing Plasmodium, Toxoplasma, human cells, yeast and bacteria, protein expression, cloning, PCR, bioinformatics and many phenotypic cellular assays. My aim is to progress using these skills, into different projects, to tackle some of the unanswered questions in the molecular basis of disease. I work well in team and excel in independently led work.
