About Monique Lafon

As head of the Viral Neuro-Immunology Laboratory at Institut Pasteur (Paris), my research focuses on rabies virus, a neurotropic virus leading to lethal encephalitis.Our team has shown that during infection with rabies virus, a viral protein triggers neuron survival by disrupting a specific complex formed by two cellular proteins. We have shown that a peptide (referred to as "Neurovita") constructed from the viral protein inducing the survival function induced neuro-protective and neuro-regeneration in different types of neurons and in preclinical models. Neurovita offers promising perspectives in the field of regenerative medicine in nervous system.
