After graduating from RIT with my BS in Media Arts and Technology, I started my career working as a Visual Design and Marketing Specialist for high-tech software companies. I enjoyed and gained a lot of useful, professional experience in these positions.I’ve always had a passion for photography, so in 2010 I expanded my freelance design business to include lifestyle, event and portrait photography services. In 2013, I was given the opportunity to manage the Design and Print Center at the vocational high school from which I had graduated. While I had never previously pictured myself being an educator, this opportunity ignited a passion I never expected. Within a year, I became certified as a Design and Visual Communications instructor and accepted a teaching position in the Multimedia Communications department at the school. I bring my professional work experience to my 11th and 12th grade students, focusing on developing their skills in advanced layout and design, marketing and promotional materials, working with clients, photography, advanced photo retouching, infographic design and more. I have also served as the yearbook advisor since 2013.In addition to teaching, I still very much enjoy running my photography and graphic design business. It gives me the opportunity to practice the craft I love and am teaching every day. I am always interested in new projects, so please reach out if you would like to discuss yours!monique@moniquetervophotography.com
