In 2007, along with her daughter founded Lives Not Knives, Monique used her business skills to support the campaign Lives Not Knives. LNK began work tackling one of the major issues of the time – youth crime – Monique further developed LNK into a registered charity and took up the position as CEO. A post that has challenged her expertise in project management, events management, bid writing, fundraising, marketing and PR. Working in Partnership with the Home Office, MOPAC, Local Authority and Metropolitan Police. During this time Monique sat on the Violent Youth Crime Board at the Home Office and Youth Justice Board, further chaired the Board of Governors at Saffron Valley Collegiate and set up the Safer Neighbourhood Board in Croydon. LNK have also been fortunate to work with great corporates such as Westfield, Hammerson, Willmott Dixon and KPMG.Monique started her career as a co-founder and partner of a successful fashion and retail business for two decades. From designing bespoke clientele to designing, manufacturing and supplying departmental stores seasonal range. Her role included designing, manufacturing, retail, marketing and business management.

In his manifesto for the 2012 election the Mayor of London stated that he would: “Establish Safer Neighbourhood Boards in every borough giving local Londoners and victims a greater voice” “Give local people a direct say in Community Payback” The manifesto included the objective to enable neighbourhoods to set policing priorities to ensure that the police focus on the priorities of local communities. Consequently, the London Police and Crime Plan, which is the Mayor’s strategy for tackling crime and making London safer over the next three years, set out his plan to fulfil his manifesto commitment on giving Londoners a greater voice through Safer Neighbourhood Boards. Safer Neighbourhood Boards will sit within the wider engagement mechanism and will include representatives from a number of groups such as Neighbourhood Watch, the Independent Custody Visitor Panel, the Independent Advisory Group, as well as the borough’s Neighbourhood Panels, which in turn bring together representatives of adjoining Safer Neighbourhood Team Ward Panels.
