Community Tech New York (CTNY) believes building community networks builds community power. We collaborate with local organizations in NYC, New York State, Detroit, MI, and other US sites to create community-owned internet infrastructure and introduce disaster preparedness strategies using the Portable Network Kit. Our approach is grounded in the Detroit Digital Justice principles of access, participation, common ownership, and healthy communities.

The Equitable Internet Initiative (EII) accelerates outreach, training and wireless broadband Internet sharing on the neighborhood level in Detroit. The EII Digital Stewards Training Program prepares teams of community organizers and techies to design and deploy communications infrastructure with a commitment to the EII working principles. The digital stewards learn community wireless, which allows neighbors to form their own local network and share an Internet connection. The skills learned will also transfer to anyone that is looking to startup or work for a wireless internet service provider.I trained the Digital Stewards in community wireless and the build-out of wireless networks in the Greater North End neighborhood in Detroit, which allows neighbors to form their own local network and share an Internet connection.The training brings together both technologists and community organizers, which is important because EII believes that digital literacy programs thrive through inter-generational relationships within the classroom.

Develop diverse scale events, such as formal ceremonies, conferences, workshops, and banquets. Manage all tasks from concept development, planning logistics, and coordinating technical aspects through execution. Expert speaker, instructor, emcee, moderator, and facilitator.

Collaborate with Loveland Technologies and Rock Ventures teams to co-create a community engagement strategy, working primarily on the Motor City Mapping project, that involves workshops and other types of outreach to various groups. Serve as the liaison within the integrated team to implement the strategy Train residents on using unique technical tools Prepare outreach materials  Track and report milestones and provide status reports

Appointed as Surveyor Team Manager for approximately 125 Surveyors, managing operations and working with project management teams to ensure an organized work flow and environment. Also performed some quality control of the digital parcel survey data.

Under the Broadband Technologies Opportunity Program, Connect Your Community, supported strategy to expand broadband adoption in Detroit communities. Coordinated program marketing, scheduling, data, data base, and volunteer management for this community based digital literacy project. Redesigned data file set-up and maintenance process to accomplish 95% compliance ratio from 10% compliance ratio.

 Connect Your Community Supervisor – Under the Federal Stimulus Broadband Technologies Opportunity Program, used an innovative and collaborative strategy to expand broadband adoption for more than 4,000 households in Detroit communities. Lead staff in execution of basic skills computer & broadband internet training, exceeding goals of trained residents by 10%. Coordinated program marketing, scheduling, data, database, and volunteer management. Yes I Can Achieve Summer Camp Program Director - Created and coordinated an integrated academic enrichment and summer camp program designed to strengthen students' core academics to meet or exceed grade level expectation on the October 2010 MEAP Assessment. 90% of students had marked improvement. Coordinated program marketing, scheduling, data, database, and volunteer management. EXCEL Photography Program Mentor - Supervised, chaperoned, and mentored 20 high school students studying photography, with specific assignment to a special needs student. Successfully concluded the year with an art exhibit at the Detroit Museum of Creative Art and Design.

Highlights include:• Developed business case & obtained Executive Management approval for inaugural diversity marketing initiative.• Executed multi-medium targeting whereby Web media plan delivered click thru results double the industry average.• Redesigned Personal Auto Insurance online campaign with launch of flash technology.• Launched Consumer Value Proposition (CVP) Campaign to Internal Audience• Spearheaded multi-media communication campaign to generate awareness of new CVP and marketing strategy. Successfully executed the first online messaging initiative across all U. S. intra- office locations.
