The UNDP Insurance and Risk Finance Facility (IRFF) is a program that uses insurance and risk financing to protect vulnerable people, communities, and ecosystems in developing countries. The IRFF is active in more than 20 countries and will be active in 50 countries by 2025.I am leading IRFF-UNDP activities in Bangladesh under the following domains.1. Effective management, implementation and synchronization of the insurance and risk finance solutions and Insurance Development Forum (IDF) project in Bangladesh2. Effective development of new inclusive insurance and risk financing project sand resource mobilization3. Policy advocacy and programme development around climate change and inclusive risk financing; contribution to relevant development policy and frameworks4. Knowledge building and management contributing to an enabling environment on insurance and risk finance.

# Designed an universal health insurance and maternity insurance product which will protect marginal people availing insurance and access to health service for their critical times.# Developed a livestock insurance policy and signed MoU# Scaled up crop insurance to 35 districts and covered 0.1 million farmers in a year.

As the leader overseeing the non-life insurance segment at BRAC Microfinance, I have played a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and strategic growth while focusing on client protection, technological improvements, and capacity developments. Key accomplishments include:• Developed the Area Yield Insurance project, rapidly expanding coverage to 376 locations within just three months. This initiative has been instrumental in providing essential protection to marginalized farmers, safeguarding their livelihoods against shocks and uncertainties.• Integrated agri-advisory services and established market linkages within the insurance programs. By equipping farmers with vital information and resources, we have empowered them to make informed decisions, manage risks effectively, and enhance their resilience.• Successfully secured continued funding through effective negotiation and established new funding sources, ensuring the sustained success and scalability of the projects. This has involved close collaboration with partners, agencies, and stakeholders.• Revamped the awareness development methods, utilizing efficient project management principles and strategic approaches. This transformation resulted in an impressive 55.6% policy renewal rate for our voluntary (non-subsidized) product, highlighting its value and the trust it has garnered.• Emphasized capacity building within the team and partners, providing comprehensive training, coaching, and mentorship opportunities. This investment has nurtured an agile and motivated workforce, vital to the successful implementation and management of the projects.Through these efforts, I have made significant contributions to expanding insurance reach and supporting farmers in effectively managing risks, we have fostered community resilience and advanced our mission of creating a more inclusive and secure society.

As the responsible party for collecting and coordinating the country's financial information and competitor data, I proactively ensured consistency and coherence across regions in the country. I accomplished this by:# Spearheading the establishment of a data-driven decision-making culture within the program, enabling critical financial decision-making based on accurate and reliable information.# Oversaw budget management activities and effectively coordinated with stakeholders, ensuring adherence to best practices within the program. Provided reports and essential information to the management committee, contributing to informed decision-making.# Strengthened financial data capture procedures by implementing capacity development initiatives and developing comprehensive budget management guidelines, resulting in improved accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting across the program's branches.# Led the implementation of standardized information management policies, and provided information management support for conducting need assessments in all branches, ensuring methodological decision-making at every operational level.I and my team successfully enhanced financial data management, streamlined processes, and promoted evidence-based decision-making. I held a pivotal role in project management and the establishment of a standard insurance practice for 10 million lives that placed a strong emphasis on social protection and livelihood development. Key highlights of my contributions include: Championed the implementation of Bangladesh's largest micro-insurance activities for marginalized individuals and created an exemplary model. Led comprehensive training programs and capacity development initiatives, developing manuals, AVs, and FAQs to enhance stakeholder awareness and empower them with knowledge. Pioneered the development of digital tools and dashboards, a claim portal to optimize the effectiveness of the micro-insurance project. Ensured meticulous information management and conducted rigorous monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities, collaborating with stakeholders to drive social protection initiatives. Established a KPI-based management system for the first time ever in insurance. Actively engaged BRAC in global spaces, fostering partnerships and contributing to the development of social protection policies. Developed newsletters and blogs to amplify outreach efforts and facilitate knowledge sharing. Supported effective planning, management, coordination, and evaluation processes, driving district-level planning, budgeting, and public financial management for enhanced social protection.By taking decisive actions, I successfully advanced social protection, empowered stakeholders, and elevated the impact of micro-insurance. My commitment to leveraging insurance as a catalyst for financial inclusion and community resilience remains unwavering.

Project Design and ManagementCredit Shield Insurance Pilot: Managed the pilot project in 94 branches across Bangladesh from September 2015 to December 2016. Successfully worked for the national-expansion as well in 2017.Emergency Loan pilot: First-ever Pre-Approve lending process. A product that enables the client to access finance during their emergency needs. The objective was to see how loans can work as insurance to develop financial resilience.• Design the framework with UC Berkeley from November 2014 to May 2015. • 1st piloted in 20 branches from June 2015 targeting the emergency due to flood.• 2nd pilot was done in 200 branches from March-December 2016 after made necessary corrections from 1st pilot learning.• 3rd Pilot ongoing from March 2017 till November and disbursed 'Pre-approved' loan to the devastating flood victims.• Managed 2 research assistants and ensured success with proper team effort.Digital Financial Service: Developed the proposal and worked on Digital Financial Services project implementation from 2015- May 2017 - Successfully received a grant for 3 years - Co-designed the CSA-bKash agent, Central wallet, etc, and ensured successful project management. - As a member of the hiring board ensured the right people hiring and their capacity development which ensured the successful implementation of the project.Other Pilots: • Co-designed Voucher Project in 2015 with project lead; in collaboration with Bocconi University and Stockholm University. • Worked on sanitation loan, Kisori Project with BEP, Artisan Development Initiative with Aarong, People with disability loan, medical treatment loan, etc.• Worked on Data Management system from 2014-2015People ManagementManaged a team of 18 Regional Sector Specialist from 2016 to May 2017. Worked on 11 pilots in Dhaka Division and was responsible for the implementation of these pilot projects.

• Managed a rural BRAC microfinance branch portfolio as Branch Manager. Supervised overall branch management including liaison with local government offices and managed and the team of 4. Remained successful in increasing quality with the team and achieved incentive for the 1st time.• Managed a remote BRAC Microfinance Area (in the Sundarban periphery) as the Area Manager. Managed a significant portfolio in 6 branches with a team of 6 Credit Officers. and successfully developed the business (11%) in 3 months.

Conducted intensive research, B2B meetings, client surveys, etc and outlined 3 product/process for Post-Ebola business development. - Digital Financial Service: Loan repayment process by mobile money.- Financial Literacy Model: Suggested innovative rotation based CSA based Fin-literacy model for all branches with minimum operational cost.- Business Product: Designed Motorcycle loan and short term business loan products.
