Cyrus Richard also known by his nickname “MonkItes” born (15 November) is a keen professional musician, A original member of the RasItes he spent his childhood growing up in south London In a Rasta family where he schooled and learnt his love for Reggae music. Being highly inspired by the greats such as Jackie Mittoo and Tyrone Downie his aim in life was to play music for a living and share stages with the greats.Since joining the RasItes he has a wealth of experience touring and playing with artists such as:Black Uhuru, Mighty Diamonds, Abyssinians, Andrew Tosh, Luciano, Leroy Sibbles, Michael Rose, Dave Barker ,Jahmali, Warrior king, Turbulence, Kenyatta Hill, Mickey General, Vivian Jones, Silvia Tella, Barry Biggs, Prince Malachi Antony B, Dennis Bovell, Winston Reedy, Blood Shanti and Hollie Cook just to mention a few. He has 15 years worth of touring experience in the music business and is still active and touring with the RasItes and others. He also has his own production company “Monk Recordings” where he produces a range of different music.When not touring he spends a lot of time doing youth work in south London where he grew up getting involved in lots of projects and visiting schools for inspirational/ motivational talks.
