Monroe Baldwin is from Lynchburg, Virginia, and now resides in North Myrtle Beach, SouthCarolina, with his wife Sherry and their five children: Monroe IV, Larson, George, Annibelle, andTrueman.Mr. Baldwin gained his education in the Economics School at George Mason University. Hestudied under the program set forth by Nobel Prize in Economics winner James M. Buchanan andearned his degree in Economics in 1990. He continued in other areas of study, such as RealEstate Development and Finance.He is active in his community: A member and former councilman of the King of Glory LutheranChurch; a member and former board member of the Optimist club; a board member of the NorthMyrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce; Member and past Chairman of the Economic DevelopmentCouncil; Chairman of the North Strand Coastal Wind Team.Mr. Baldwin's primary business is Myrtle Beach Tours, based in Ocean Drive, North Myrtle Beach,South Carolina.In 2007, Mr. Baldwin became active with the Chamber of Commerce by Joining the Board ofDirectors. His hard work earned him a seat on the Economic Development Council. BecomingChairman, the council achieved success by implementing a conceptual plan to introduce "SportsTourism" to the North Myrtle Beach economy. The City of North Myrtle Beach implemented theprogram by constructing the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex. This capital project is now asignificant component of the overall tourism economy. An expansion of the facility will take place in2021 to allow for larger tournaments. Mr. Baldwin won the Chamber of Commerce Chairman'sAward in 2008 for his work on the project.In 2008, Mr. Baldwin became Chairman of the Economic Development Council. His next push waspaving the way for alternative energy economic development. Under his direction, a test windstation was placed upon the Avista resort to calculate the feasibility of wind-generated power onthe rooftops along the coast. Since then, various partnerships have developed to form the NorthStrand Coastal Wind Team, where Mr. Baldwin serves as Chairman.In 2014, Mr. Baldwin joined the Board of Visitors at the Burroughs and Chapin Center for Marineand Wetland Study. He actively assists in matters involving beach renourishment and coastalerosion.Mr. Baldwin is an advisory board member of Pine Island Camp for boys in Belgrade Lakes, Maine.PIC is a not-for-profit summer camp founded in 1902.
