University Singers is a university choir where students develop their vocal talents via rehearsals, sectionals, individual practices, and public performances. The repertoire included composers from the medieval to the 20th century. My role in the ensemble was as a base or baritone depending on the specific piece and needs of the choir. My projects included: An analysis of the automated avocado grading and sizing system with the propose of determining choke points in the production line. In the analysis two distinct areas of improvement were identified and addressed.An evaluation of the data tracking systems on the automatic sizer system. Collaborating with shift leaders and technicians to identify three areas of improvement. A key area being the need for long term collection and analysis of avocado sizes and quality through out specific points in the shift to help identify cause for down time incidents. A process improvement project targeting the layout and design of the automated palletizers with the scope of identifying current operational capacity as well as future pathways to improve capacity. I was heavenly involved with the initial stages of this project focusing on data collection. Show less

In this internship I learned about the how each component of the supply chain was critical for the production and sale of a product as well as how processing systems are developed and implemented in a plant setting.My project included:Establishing a time based standardized process for the Funyuns line shutdown to decrease downtime and improve shutdown efficiency. The improvement I proposed during the project would decrease downtime from 480 minutes to 360 minutes per shift with an average possible improvement of 100 hour of runtime per year.Creating a comprehensive responsibilities guide for the Processing Leaders. For this project I learned from and observed the current processing leaders and recorded the actions that must be taken each shift in order for the plant to preform efficiently. I then developed a document detailing the responsibilities to be used by the current Processing Leaders as well as train new hires. Show less
