From a young age, I have always been concerned about cleanliness and being a better steward of planet earth, this explains why I adopted the nickname Felix, as in Felix Unger from the old TV series "The Odd Couple". Because of my obsession of cleanliness, I have spent over 26 years in the solid waste industry and started a garbage company with my two sons called "LAD" Local Affordable Disposal. While operating the company, we quickly realized how much litter/garbage/recycling blows out of the carts we serviced with an automated arm each day, carts blowing over by the wind opening the lid "sail", animals knocking carts over scattering debris across neighborhoods, people getting injured when the lid blows open and most importantly, how to keep my sons in the truck and not running around outside the truck trying to run down the fly-away litter. I was always concerned and worried about the possibility of my boys getting hurt or even hit by a car while chasing fly-away litter outside the truck. We had to find a solution to this major problem.After days and weeks of research, we decided to try the SafeWaste auto-release cart lid wind latch. The latch was a complete success. The latch kept the lid closed during storage, while rolling to the curb, closed when picked up by an automated arm allowing the cart to enter the truck body before opening preventing any litter/garbage/recycling from spilling out. Customers were happy and our complaints of fly-away litter diminished. We sold the company a few years later and then I started SafeWaste USA to help other haulers and municipalities improve safety for their workers/residents control litter at the curb resulting in cleaner waterways and oceans.
