After a 30-year career as a top energy broker and real estate investor, I joined For All Abilities to make the workplace (and the world) more accessible to people with disabilities. We share a common goal: eliminate the stigma and myths around people with disabilities. Several of my family members have physical and cognitive disabilities: some from birth, and some developed. I see the daily struggles they face. Many of these struggles are easily surmountable if our world was more aware, accepting and accommodating of all kinds of thinking and physical abilities. Everyone will need supports at sometime during their lifetime, whether that need is temporary or permanent. Until now, there has been no easy way to accommodate these needs in the workplace. Expensive diagnoses and the disclosure of sensitive medical information has been the only way to receive supports. This solution is outdated and not inclusive. It only continues to promote stigmas about disabilities while ignoring individuals' strengths.Offering accommodations to employees with disabilities is the main way to mitigate compliance risk of violating the ADA. In response to this need, we have developed an inexpensive tool that does exactly that: supports or accommodations are recommended to employees-- without the need for a diagnosis or disclosure.
