By the age of 10, I was making things around the house and in the shed. By 15, I had commandeered the log pile and built my own workshop servicing friends' cars, whilst designing and building my own custom versions. The constraints of formalised study at university weren't really for me, whereas photography and being a tour leader on double-decker buses in southern and eastern Europe proved far more stimulating. Adventure being key to personal development and stretching one's sense of perspective, I spent a while in yacht racing event management which opened up the world even more whilst I continued with my life's fascination and passion- always designing, always making. Acting part-time was always part of the escape. Stints in films, adverts and TV shows brought sparkle to the chase; and then moving to London to gain more focus led to a lifetime of design experience crystallising into moving elements in architecture; consistently designing and installing world-firsts. Meia was born. The more recent development of the patented Hidealoo has been a natural progression of wanting to have my work 'mean' something; to make more of a difference other than to my own success... So, with ever ageing populations and increasingly expensive real estate, the Hidealoo will help our spaces adapt more to our needs, as and when they surface.
