Bitergy BV is an innovative early-stage startup which, within the landscape of blockchain technology, provides cost-effective, efficient and green energy/heating solutions for residential buildings, social houses, greenhouses and schools.

Main activities:• Research and teaching in the smart grid and energy area.• Collect data and study feasibility of offering MTech program in Engineering.• Identify and design courses in the Energy Area for BEnTech/MTech program.• Conduct a survey on demand for such a program.

Worked on the following three industrial/academic projects in Belgium:• SWiFT (Smart Wind Farm Control) in cooperation with Eandis: techno-economic assessment of use of storage to minimize power curtailment of wind turbines, and to avoid transmission congestion.• WITAS (Wind Turbines Ancillary Services) in cooperation with Electrabel: investigating various ancillary services that may be provided by wind farms to allow their active contribution in the power system control. • OptiWind (Serviceability Optimization of the Next Generation Offshore Wind Turbines) in cooperation with over five teams within Belgium: Electrical connection of off-shore wind farms to the mainland.

Worked as a PhD researcher on the following two FP7 EU-funded projects:• C4C (Control for Coordination of Distributed Systems ):(http://www.c4c-project.eu/) in cooperation with over 12 different teams within EU• DISC (Distributed Supervisory Control of Large Plants):(http://www.diee.unica.it/automatica/disc/index.html) in cooperation with over 10 teams

Courses Taught:Power System Analysis, Electric Machines Theory, Principles of Electrical Measurement, Electrical Circuits, Relays and Protection, and Technical Language.Labs:Renewable Energy laboratory (CHCP and small-scale wind turbine simulator), Electrical Circuits laboratory, Matlab/Simulink, PSpice, and HOMER labs, Digital Circuits laboratory, Basic Electrical Wiring laboratory.

Worked as a technical expert in several projects in Niroo Research Institute (NRI) associated with Ministry of Energy of Iran.Main duty: software development for fast power flow analysis, short circuit studies, compensation of reactive power by capacitor banks etc.
