Senior AdministratorEast Sussex Fire And Rescue Service Dec 2007 - Mar 2009East SussexI was employed on a temporary contract to carry out a Feasibility Study on the Administration Service, throughout the County of East Sussex, for the Fire Service. The study was completed and presented to senior management for consideration at the end of my contract. The main aim of the study was to allow the various Borough Commanders to have a detailed account of their Administration service. Each Borough is unique in terms of their demographics and geographical layouts and therefore this impacted on the service required. I interviewed all Administration staff employed within East Sussex, including their Line Managers and all other colleagues who require their services and support, and identified some of the areas where staff required support, training, new systems or equipment in order to carry out their duties. I provided cost implications, revised Job Descriptions, job sharing opportunities, Best Practices as well as other areas that were in need of addressing e.g. Health & Safety and working environment issues. My report was used for consideration when the restructuring of the service commenced during 2011-2012. -

The school had 1,200 pupils and over 120 teaching and support staff. I was responsible for the supervision, training and evaluation of the office staff which consisted of five secretaries and four clerical assistants. Some of my duties included organising travel, training and accommodation for teachers and associated staff attending courses etc. and administration duties that were set by government regulations. Making sure that the appropriate statistics were sent or delivered to the Educational Head Office as well as the maintenance of the Education linked data system used for recording the mandatory statistics. This role was extremely varied given that we were dealing with 1,200 pupils on a daily basis. The school was also an ‘inclusive’ school having a special needs department with over 50 children registered. One of my main duties was providing administration of the £5M budget for the Headmaster and reporting monthly statistics to the Headmaster.
