As an Associate Professor jointly-appointed in School of Railway Engineering & School of Industrial Engineering at Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST), I bring over two decades of expertise spanning both engineering and management sciences. My academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering from the University of Waterloo and a B.Sc. in Railway Transportation Engineering from IUST, complemented by an M.Sc. in Management of Logistics and Transportation from Chalmers University of Technology and postdoctoral research in Management Science at McGill University!Currently, I serve as the Chancellor of IUST's International Campus and hold key leadership roles, including Advisor and Special Assistant to the Minister at Iran's Ministry of Road and Urban Development for eight years! As the Director of the Transportation Systems and Logistics(TSL)Research Lab, I am working with a team of passionate, knowledgeable, and industrious graduate students. Additionally, I have engaged in fruitful academic collaborations with prestigious institutions; most recently, as a Visiting Professor at ETH Zurich!I have been instrumental in organizing international conferences like the International Conference on Recent Advances in Railway Engineering (ICRARE) and have actively reviewed for numerous esteemed transportation journals and conferences!My research focuses on enhancing transportation safety and efficiency, with significant contributions to the fields of risk and safety management . I have a proven track record of developing risk assessment frameworks using machine learning & statistical models that improve the resilience and reliability of rail and road transport. My research interests include simulation models, advanced technology & sensing applications, traffic incident & emergency management, operations research, human factor and transport psychology.With a strong foundation in both industry and academia, I am committed to driving innovation and excellence in transportation engineering & management of logistics, aiming to contribute to safer and more efficient transportation systems globally.
