Mark Ordesky is an American film and television producer and former Hollywood studio executive. He’s best known for executive producing the Oscar-winning THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy – during which Mark spent the better part of five years in New Zealand supporting his friend Peter Jackson’s historic vision. While growing up at indie studio New Line Cinema, Mark acquired or executive produced over 60 films, collectively grossing nearly $4 billion at the worldwide box office, earning 38 Academy Award nominations with 18 wins. These included the company’s first Best Picture nominee (SHINE), its first Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival (Lars von Trier’s DANCER IN THE DARK), and the most nominated film in history to win every Oscar for which it was nominated (THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING). Mark also helped introduce Jackie Chan to U.S. audiences with the breakout hit RUMBLE IN THE BRONX. Currently, Mark owns/operates Court Five with fellow New Line veteran Jane Fleming – fashioning independent film and television for Hollywood studios and broadcasters as well as global streamers such as Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon. Currently streaming: Court Five's ground-breaking, EMMY-winning TV series THE QUEST on Disney+. All this gives Mark a long view on the challenges and opportunities facing creative businesses today, which he has shared through speaking and advisory engagements. Mark is a member of the Producers Guild of America, the Television Academy, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Additionally, he is a board member of the American Cinematheque.
