Within my studies, I am focusing on the functional biology and physiology of animal behavior and methods in hopes to develop new ways to protect our ecosystem. As a Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and Bioinformatics major, I have an analytical background in programming through biological small protein research conducted at my institution. Additionally, to build my understanding of wildlife research, I’ve undertaken the position as a research assistant in Towson University’s sugar glider lab. In my experiences, I have developed skills in DeepLabCut, analyzing articles, recomputing 3D and 2D coordinates, word processing, communication, and public speaking. I have also worked within various animal settings including undertaking the role as an equestrian therapeutic aide under the non-profit organization PETS and as a naturalist caring for and studying the behavior of exotic species.I would like to expand on these experiences and gain knowledge on the complexity of animal interactions with their habitats to examine the outcome it has on the biological composition of the species and the ecosystem.
