I’m Morgan Armbrust, an MBA candidate focusing Finance with a keen interest in financial strategy. My journey began in the legal field as a public defender and then a solo criminal defense attorney. While I initially loved the work I did, I started to enjoy running my business more than I enjoyed being in the court room. I found that the legal industry in general, and specifically criminal litigation, did not allow for much business or case innovation, work-life balance, quality technology integration to create better client outcomes, or career growth and support, especially for women with young families. Driven by a desire for innovation and a strong inclination toward the business world, I’m focused on gaining financial expertise through the SMU MBA program to drive strategic financial growth in a small firm where I feel I can make the most impact. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute fresh perspectives, dynamic negotiation and analysis strategies, and problem solving skills gained in the court room combined with new skills gained at SMU to support and enhance a firm or client’s financial strategy and overall success.
