Resident Assistant
CurrentAs a Resident Assistant, I ensure the safety, success, and comfort of first-year residents in a residence hall of over 500 individuals by fostering a welcoming community through programming, enforcing housing policy, providing various on and off-campus resources, and monitoring resident behaviors and concerns. Resident assistants work on-call and on the desk every other week at night and throughout the entire weekend to respond to any resident needs or emergencies. I hold open-door hours three times a week and allow my residents to reach out through GroupMe or in person. I am responsible for staff development by creating programs for my staff to build trusting relationships to cultivate a strong teamwork dynamic. Additionally, resident assistants fundraise and assist in building a house for a family in need with Habitat for Humanity. Occasionally, I will take office assistant shifts in the postal office or after midnight!
