Just proves you cant keep a good cause down! In 2005, I created and opened We Can Help Foundation, a community based, non-profit, 501(c)3 organization in downtown Los Angeles. I secured State of California licensing and certification, as well as funding contracts with the County of Los Angeles. Our core functions were to assist low to no income families and individuals, whom were experiencing a range of difficulties including mental and/or behavioral health, education, employment, legal and/or housing overcome their challenges and reclaim their lives. After three years of uninterrupted growth in the service of over 590 individuals county wide, in the summer of 2009, during the initial impact of the financial recession, LA County indiscriminately diminished our $1.023 million in funding. This reduction forced the organization to reduce services, staff and rely almost sole on charitable donations. They say, "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger." For the past three years, we have been rebuilding our network of resources...helping one individual at a time. I identify key issues, apply a corrective action plan, train staff, management and executive management on CCR Title 9, Title 22, California State Standards, Medi-Cal / Medicare regulation as well as County, State and Federal contracting guidelines. I correct and/or implement new policies and protocol for these companies. A two phase project. Motivation House: Community Youth Development is phase one. It provides a wrap around service to youth re-entering the community after temporary placement due to legal, behavioral or other life challenges. We case manage, counsel, tutor and mentor these young men.We assist them in achieving their goals and dreams.
