About Morgan Gilbert
I'm Morgan, an honours student and science communicator (also, a dancer, live theatre-lover, and Formula 1 enthusiast).I recently graduated from a Bachelor of Arts (Writing and Ancient History) and a Bachelor of Science (Biochemistry). I couldn't wait to go back for more, so I'm now completing a year of research under Evelyne Deplazes at the School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences, UQ.Science communication is my jam. I am currently working as a Communications Officer with CSIRO's digital health research program, the Australian e-Health Research Centre (AEHRC). I write articles, coordinate photo and video shoots, and work with the team to spread the word about the amazing work happening at the centre.I enjoy teaching and tutoring. I currently tutor communications, journalism, ancient history, chemistry, biology and biochemistry at Duchesne College (St Lucia).

Student Research Assistant
I was involved in a research project as part of an undergraduate research course. Through the 13 weeks I spent in the lab researching the human breastmilk microbiome, I used various techniques including DNA extraction, bacterial culturing, and qPCR. I produced a report on my research, presented my results as a poster to academics and peers, and contributed to a paper published in Nutrients.
