As a graduate student researcher in the lab of Dr. Michael Lawson I am pursuing research to understand the mechanism of ribosomal recycling during cellular translation.

In this role I currently work as a lab instructor for the undergraduate course 14CL. This course is an introduction to organic chemistry and involves experiments such as column chromatography, TLC, synthesis, and extraction. My role is to supervise and guide students through experiments, answering questions about the material, holding office hours each week, and grading in lab assignments,

In this role I worked under the supervision of Dr. Henrik Öström in his research lab. I performed experiments such as low energy electron diffraction, temperature programed desorption, and sum frequency generation experiments on a Pt (111) surface under ultra high vacuum.

This opportunity allowed me to learn about the creation of teaching materials, the aiding of student learning in computational chemistry, as well as the review of students semester long experiments.

This experience included mixing and disposing of photographic chemicals used in the production of film photography. I set up and cleaned the lab in addition to aiding students in the photography development process.

I worked with Dr. Warren De Bruyn as he researched the fluorescence states and steady state fluorescence of oil samples.

Undergraduate research during the summer analyzing trace evidence and its categorization. Headed a project analyzing clear coat varnish as trace evidence using ATR-FTIR. Collected and prepared samples for analysis. Began testing the categorization of sample spectra with the help of computer software. Began building a varnish database for use by forensic scientists.

Undergraduate research during the fall semester analyzing the physiological and behavioral aspects underlying disease and sickness symptoms of zebra finches. Measured RNA and DNA levels in brain tissue comparing both sick and healthy birds. Performed brain slicing on samples and prepared slides for further analysis, storage, and records.
