Research Assistant in the Burch-Smith lab. Working with a graduate researcher under the direction of Dr. Burch-Smith to trying to find a link between multiple proteins in Arabidopsis that indicate presence of plasmodesmata’s in ancient algae. After the initial semester, working with another graduate researcher to hypothesize and test when ISE-2 is overexpressed, the ISE-2 would phenocopy plants that overexpress myrosinases and be drought resistant. Research Assistant in the Das lab. Working with post doctoral researcher Dr. Samridhi Pathak under the direction of Dr. Maitreyi Das to create a lipid bilayer to study the membrane protein Cdc42 and its roles within the cell using FRAP and other various methods. In addition to lipid bilayer formation, working to isolate, purify, and amplify several proteins to place them in the lipid bilayer and further study their roles without cell interference from the cellular environment.
