I am the CEO/Founder of Motive International, a social enterprise I founded in 2015 with a mission to mitigate global conflict and instability and promote global sustainability. Previously, I served as a U.S. diplomat and policy officer, and earlier as founder/Executive Director of a community development NGO in Mongolia. I've been a senior leader in business, government, and NGOs, and held roles in the diplomacy, defense, and development agencies of the U.S. government. This background has taught me that complex global challenges can only be tackled by harnessing the inherent motives and capabilities of the public, private, and civil society sectors to tackle wicked problems ranging from violent extremism, hybrid warfare, and weapons proliferation, to market barriers in fragile and emerging markets, organizational change in global institutions, or simply how to coordinate across agency or sector lines. I've grown two organizations from self-funded start-ups to highly capable global organizations by attracting teams of world-leading experts, diverse partners, and visionary clients. As a female entrepreneur and former diplomat, I take pride in working with and mentoring women and men from a wide diversity of sectoral, disciplinary, and cultural backgrounds. Skills and areas of expertise I've cultivated in my career include: Foreign policy; conflict analysis & mitigation; state and non-state governance; corporate social responsibility; stability operations; assessments, monitoring, evaluation and learning; civil-military operations and interagency coordination; community-based tourism; environmental dimensions of conflict; atrocity prevention; women, peace and security; participatory methods; tabletop exercises; curriculum design and delivery; strategic planning; systems & design thinking; sustainability benchmarking; corporate social responsibility; indigenous peoples and ethnic minority issues; microfinance; strategic trade controls; weapons non-proliferation; navigating the federal marketplace; leading diverse teams.
