I graduated from Texas A&M University with Honors as an Undergraduate Research Scholar. I have a BS in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I focused on mental health and the perception of individuals with mental illness. During my senior year I worked at a day habilitation program for adults with special needs and ran the group home on the weekends. In addition, I interned in an Autism unit for Bryan ISD. After graduation I became alternatively certified in EC-6, 4-8, and EC-12 SPED. Since then I have also been certified with ESL supplemental. I have been teaching for 6 years with a wide variety of students with disabilities. I have run Autism units, behavior units, and low cognitive units. I have also worked with Aspire, Extended Day and served as a math tutor for HB4545 after school. I was nominated for the Touch of Class award in 2020 by a parent of one of my most challenging students. I enjoy using my background in psychology and my passion for children to help others and make a difference. I began my masters program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. To have more time to focus on my masters, I took an experiential position at Cook Children’s as a Program Specialist II in the Psychiatric Department. I facilitated patient safety while providing care and resources to patients and families in crisis. This year I accepted a position as a Special Education Campus Coordinator. Recently, I was inducted into Chi Sigma Iota (Counseling Honor Society). I am beyond excited to see where this journey takes me!
