About Morgan Walker

I’m a purpose-driven innovation leader. I get my energy from making a positive, joyful impact on peoples lives by designing great experiences. I have a wealth of experience in developing globally successful digital and physical products. I use data, insight and empathy to get below the surface of behaviour both on a user experience and systems level. I build compelling, creative products and strategies that inspire concrete action today, while also being on a path to long-term value and sustainability.I’m always keen to apply my skills to new spaces — particularly new products and services for public good, health, wellbeing, social or environmental impact. I’d also love to use my expertise to support more companies and organisations working for children.

  • The Lego Group
    Design Director - Creative Lead
The Lego Group Sep 2020 - Apr 2022
    Creative Play Lab, Billund, Denmark
Key Product Launch: LEGO VIDIYO. Project role: Product Owner and Mobile App UX Lead I initiated and lead design development of a new, flagship product line that was all about creative, music video making. We wanted to turn kids' love of music and meme content into a live, hands-on experience that was creative, playful and sociable. A mobile app blended augmented reality and computer vision with fresh new toy design, a kid-safe social video platform and the latest hits from the biggest artists ... And while I can't take credit for the art direction, some of the most imaginative minifigs ever made. We built a strong partnership with Universal Music that took the LEGO brand into new channels and spaces.
  • Lego Group
Senior Design Manager - Creative Lead
    Lego Group Apr 2017 - Sep 2020
    Creative Play Lab, Billund, Denmark
Key Product Launch: LEGO Hidden Side. Project Role: Mobile Game UX Lead A new 'ghost-busting' story IP and toy line with an integrated mobile AR game that allowed kids to view the spooky 'Hidden Side' of their LEGO models and catch ghosts. I lead the development of the interactive play UX from ideation through until the concept was established and prototyped (approx 6 months) before starting LEGO VIDIYO. It was LEGO's first 'mixed reality' toy experience to hit the market with Apple as a key technology partner.
  • The Lego Group
Senior Design Manager - Creative Lead
The Lego Group Jun 2014 - Apr 2017
    Pg2 Design, Billund, Denmark
Key Product Launch: LEGO Dimensions. Project Role: UX Concept Lead A specially designed ‘portal’, enabled kids to bring a huge range of LEGO built characters and models to life in an expansive, AAA videogame. An amazing 30 LEGO and Warner Bros IPs were included, from Ninjago and China to retro classics like Ghostbusters, Back to the Future and the A-Team. I took the project from 0 to 1, defining the vision and overall consumer value proposition as well as development of videogame concepts, digital-physical hardware and interactions. Despite being last to market, Dimensions beat competition from Activision and Disney to become the market leader in the 'Toys to Life' category.
  • Lego Group

  • The Lego Group
    Senior Designer - Creative Lead

    Concept Lab, Billund
Key Product Launch: LEGO Juniors (now LEGO 4+). Project Role: Design Lead I lead design development of a new product line and UX formula that successfully solved an age old retention challenge for the LEGO brand - the transition from DUPLO to LEGO was too challenging and kids were dropping out at the peak of the toy market. With sustained year on year growth, the rebranded 4+ sets are now the entry point to every LEGO product line, across the portfolio.

Discovery and concept design work to find the next big growth drivers for the company
  • Mymole
    Founder
    Mymole Apr 2010 - Apr 2011
    Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom
MyMole’s mission was to ensure that anyone could receive a clinical assessment of a mole they suspected as being skin cancer within 24hrs via a personalised, mobile portal. The mobile app built a relationship with users, nudging them to record moles regularly and automatically comparing images looking for changes. I had identified the systemic bottleneck - scarce dermatologists with long waiting lists - and had correctly anticipated the shift towards telemedicine and the role computer vision and AI would come to play in diagnostics. LEGO and Denmark was too tempting an offer however and I closed the business after two funding rounds.
  • Aircraft Medical
    Industrial Designer And Engineer
    Aircraft Medical Feb 2006 - Apr 2010
Aircraft Medical was a design led medical device company. The company made its name by producing the world’s first portable, video laryngoscope. I lead the design development, research and clinical trials of one on it’s products and helped establish the design team as we transitioned from a young start-up to a technology business with global distribution. The company was bought in 2016 by Medtronic for $110m.Key activities: Research and ideation. Form development and advanced surfacing. Engineering and opto-electronic development. Production of clinical prototypes and certification. I logged hundreds of hours of user research in operating theatres, intensive care, paediatric and emergency departments in the UK, Europe and the US.
