CDAC is an internship course credit provided through Lousisana Tech’s School of Architecture to provide service-learning opportunities and to supportthe local community. We were tasked with designing a butterfly garden pavillion for one of the busiest intersections of Ruston’s vibrant downtown. With it being a local project we visited the site and took measurements of the brickpad and outer garden. We were able to Zoom with the clients and present them with an intial presentation to showcase the different designs we envisioned for the pavillion. Our second presentation showcased which pavillion they chose with updated ideas as far as trying to incorporate a butterfly into it per the clients request. At my time being a concierge for the Arbor Oaks divison of the Methodist retirement communities, I developed good communication skills, customer service, and being highly attentive. I had numerous responsibilities during the day shifts, I took phone calls and transferred to the designated person, scheduled and coordinated events with residents, scheduled maintenance repairs, and record petty cash transactions. For the over-night shift, I had a bigger responsibility to uphold the well-being and safety of our residents. I had a duty to stay alert in case of an emergency regarding a resident in their room.
