From January to May of 2020, I was the assistant for the Surveying and Mapping course where I was able to assist students with field labs involving Total Stations and other surveying techniques. From August of 2020 to May of 2021, I acted as the teaching assistant for Intro to Environmental Engineering. I got to work on my skills of conveying key engineering topics to a class of over 20 students through holding weekly office hours, reviewing homework problems, and grading weekly assignments. I really enjoyed this role and felt that I grew a lot in terms of communicating with students and with the professor.

In this research program, my research project centered around data analysis on the estimation of PCB contaminant concentrations. This involved using 6 collected passive sampling data sets from 3 sites in San Diego Bay using first-order modeling and partitioning coefficients. At the conclusion of this program, I did a presentation summarizing my results of the bioavailable contaminant concentrations and the potential impacts on aquatic and human life.

Phoenix, Arizona Area

This internship introduced me to quantity takeoffs, grading calculations, and cost estimates for preliminary engineering and transit design. I was able to accompany professional engineers to project meetings with clients, document minutes, and tour construction sites. This position exposed me to the stages of projects, transit design plans, and their documentation.
