Life Skills Clinician – Diagnostic Day Treatment Program & Elementary School Skills Clinician
CurrentAs a Life Skills Clinician, I manage a diverse caseload across two locations in Lawrence, working with children and adolescents aged 8 to 18 in both a Diagnostic Day Treatment Program and an elementary school setting. In this role, I provide tailored life skills training and therapeutic interventions, focusing on enhancing the social, emotional, and academic success of students from elementary to high school. I collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans that address the unique needs of each client. My work involves supporting children and adolescents facing a range of mental health challenges, often coming from difficult life circumstances. I utilize evidence-based practices to address behavioral issues, emotional regulation, and social skills development. In addition to facilitating therapeutic group sessions and one-on-one interventions, I focus on areas such as anger management, coping strategies, communication skills, and conflict resolution. I continuously monitor progress and adjust strategies to ensure that each client's needs are met.In collaboration with educational staff, I support students’ academic achievement by implementing strategies that promote positive behaviors and engagement in the classroom. I also provide crisis intervention and support to students in distress, working to de-escalate situations and connect them with appropriate resources. My role requires regular engagement with a multidisciplinary team, including mental health professionals, educators, and social workers, to discuss client progress, share insights, and coordinate care.
