As the first resident pharmacist at Blount Discount Pharmacy through the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy PGY1 Community Pharmacy Residency Program, my goals are to grow in sustainable patient care services in the community pharmacy setting, to deepen clinical knowledge, to exercise leadership skills, and to practice excellent pharmaceutical care in my surrounding community.Selected duties and achievements include:• Implementing Diabetes self-management education (DSME) at work site• Explore payment for DSME services including reimbursement from CMS• Addressing Medication Adherence in surrounding community • Using existing platforms for Medication Therapy Management services• Dispensing medication safely and accurately • Leadership Development• Teaching and Learning Certification• IRB-approved research project

As a member of the MMC pharmacy staff, I was able to develop extensive experience and skill providing Medication Reconciliation services. Duties for medication reconciliation included the following: • Interviewing all patients admitted to hospital about home medication history• Interacting with family members and caregivers • Communicating to local community pharmacies to reconcile medications• Communicate to area long term care facilities to reconcile medications• Using pharmaceutical knowledge to recognize and resolve medication discrepancies• Efficiently using computer software and patients’ medical charts • Communicating discrepancies to appropriate hospital physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other staff

As a pharmacy intern for Community Pharmacy, an independently owned compounding pharmacy, I was able to develop skills in pharmacy compounding, safe medication dispensing, and customer service.

Helped prepare and facilitate labs for King College Biology Department and King College Chemistry Department. Provided tutoring in the independent and group setting for general chemistry and general biology courses.
