Currently at Forney Independent School District, I am providing skilled intervention services to children in the elementary school setting (K-4th grade). In my time in the district, I have also served at the preschool (3-5 years old), intermediate (5th-6th grade) and middle (7th-8th grade) school settings. This involves referrals, screenings, assessments, diagnostics, consultations, intervention, and dismissals. Some of the areas of impairment being treated: articulation, expressive/receptive language, pragmatics, fluency, and AAC. I am also responsible for collaborating with parents, teachers, and other important team members (Diagnosticians, LSSPs, OTs, PTs, etc) to identify and develop appropriate Individualized Education Plans to best serve my students.

I am currently serving the needs of patients within acute care as a PRN employee for CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System. I am conducting Cognitive/Linguistic Evaluations and Bedside Swallow Evaluations. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: dysphagia management, patient diet tolerance and advancement, cognitive retraining intervention, and language intervention services. I develop positive rapport with patients and their families to maximize their success in the Inpatient Rehab setting.

During my summer with CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System, I served the needs of many different patients within acute care. I conducted Bedside Swallow Evaluations and took part in many Modified Barium Swallow Studies. I consulted with patients regarding dysphagia management and rehabilitation via Oral Motor Strengthening Exercises. I also completed speech-language-cognitive evaluations as warranted.

While at Pleasant Grove Independent School District, I worked under two licensed Speech-Language Pathologists. As a clinical intern, I provided quality intervention services to children in the school setting. This involved referrals, screenings, assessments, diagnostics, consultations, intervention, and dismissals. I also gained valuable experience working with unique disabilities in the Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD) classroom.

I spent time working as a SLP Assistant before beginning graduate school. The outpatient pediatric rehabilitation facility allowed me opportunities to take part in frequent interprofessional practice and provide speech therapy services to children with all ages, diagnoses, and disabilities.
