At San Francisco SAFE (Safety Awareness for Everyone), I was a Community Organizer working across the city helping residents and business owners come together and solve challenges. While at SAFE, my bike was stolen and understood the very serious issue of bike theft and how little was being done about it. I created SAFE Bikes with the support of the SFPD, Mayors Office, Board of Supervisors and other city departments. The program became nationally recognized as a prevention program and winner of California's best bike program by CA Bike Association. - Provided crime prevention training/presentations on public safety education - Organized neighborhood watch groups and lead community groups to improve their communities- Program manager and Founer of SAFE Bikes, an education and registry system to decrease bike theft and educate the public on proper locking devices. - Presented at tech companies, schools, city depts, and community meetings about bike theft prevention. - Made over 50 media appearances on city hall steps, print, (NYTimes, Bicycling Magazine) local tv news channels, radio, and national tv (CBS News and CBS Morning Show). - Consulted with cities globally on how to create a bicycle theft prevention program- including a successful partnership with Project 529.
