Vice President, Social Intelligence Research & Insights

Current

Washington, District Of Columbia, Us

I lead a research team that provides our clients with strategic considerations informed by online discourse. We leverage social intelligence to answer primary research questions. We have fun telling data-driven stories that solve business challenges with narrative intelligence. --PSB Insights is a boutique global research consultancy part of the WPP family of agencies. PSB has provided white-glove opinion research insights to our clients for over 40 years. We tap into the surveyed voice with quant, the guided voice with qual, and the organic voice of public opinion with social intelligence. We partner with our clients to design custom research methodologies, reporting, and (multi-modal) programs that address their needs head on. PSB has a robust advanced analytics & AI team that underpins our opinion research methodologies with innovative statistical modeling. PSB has a suite of in-house LLM tools for the analysis of unstructured data (e.g., social media posts, interview transcripts, and open-ended survey responses). For example, we leverage GenAI to customize an emotion engine that can precisely score emotion intensity levels, as well as traditional positivity/negativity, on a graduated scale. Among its many benefits, our emotion engine allows us to effectively identify and remove that troublemaker sarcasm from research datasets.

Behavioral Insights Analyst

Behaviormatrix

I was the lead analyst on the client insights team at SaaS technology startup BehaviorMatrix. My team charted emotions derived from online opinions on a matrix map to approximate audience motivation and behavior -- hence the name "BehaviorMatrix." Our team used these data-backed perceptions to craft powerful insights solutions for clients. The types of questions we informed ranged from "How will watchdog groups impact our business goals?" to "What was Hilary Duff's proof of earn on for this marketing campaign?" to "What are the critical pain points of diabetes patients using our medication compared to competitors?"BehaviorMatrix were early innovators in the realm of unstructured data analysis and emotion and sentiment accuracy. The startup leveraged text analytics, NLP/ML models, predictive models, emotion and sentiment metrics, and public opinion research methodologies to provide innovative customer segment insights for our clients. Our clients included Entergy, Intellectual Ventures, Nestlé, Johnson & Johnson, AbbVie, Shire, Daiichi-Sankyo, Janssen, defense contracts, and national political campaigns for U.S. senators and U.S. governors. We often partnered with SponsorHub and Burson-Marsteller (BCW/WPP). BehaviorMatrix's emotion algorithm quantified Plutchik's wheel of emotions allowing us to measure the intensity of Plutchik's spectrum of emotions. We customized composite emotion-based scores dependent on clients' needs such as "leadership" and "propensity to buy" or "propensity to vote." BehaviorMatrix got its start using its emotion algorithm to assess the tonality of speeches for our political clients, and then adapted the technology for online posts, news, or client provided open-ends.
