As a member of the Executive Leadership team, I am accountable for Worldwide Sales, developing and executing on the company’s Go-To-Market strategies with the additional responsibilities of owning the Global Customer Service organization. The Customer Service team is accountable for all services delivered to our customers while providing world-class technical support and customer experience. My role is to drive our global sales and field operations team of 1,500 staff in 30+ countries, delivering a market leading portfolio of solutions and services to our clients. In 2014, this team delivered over $2.3B of Revenues, representing a 10% growth while delivering Operating Margins of $6.5% with a 28% growth over previous year.Key initiatives include;- Transformed Ciena’s go-to-market strategy by leveraging direct sales, stronger channel partners for geographic and vertical market coverage, and developing new strategic alliances. Appointed to the role following the acquisition of Nortel’s Metro Ethernet Networks business unit by Ciena in March 2010. Member of the Executive Leadership Team, I led a global workforce with more than 2,400 employees with the major locations being in Canada, India, Mexico, England and United States.In this role, I was accountable for Ciena’s Research & Development, Portfolio Management, Supply Chain, Product Marketing and Customer Advocacy. This role was created as we integrated the Nortel MEN assets into Ciena, navigating through a very complex integration process. Key initiatives included:- Developing a powerful and differentiated portfolio of platforms and services.- Successfully streamlining the organization under new efficient processes and structure.- Creating an agile and more predictable Supply Chain function by consolidating key suppliers functions in Mexico.

I was responsible for leading one of Nortel’s four business units – Metro Ethernet Networks (MEN) – leveraging the company's leadership in optical and carrier data to drive market share in super-fast transport networks, capitalizing on the significant growth demand for video and data traffic.Assumed accountability for P&L, R&D and product development as well as all other aspects of the business.Key initiatives include:- Streamlined the supply chain and led the business to a leadership position with over 90% of the products supplied from low cost regions.- Prepared the business for bankruptcy through involvement in ~26 corporate reorganization streams, culminating in the successful sale of the business unit, generating $774M in cash for Nortel creditors while ensuring a positive path forward for customers, employees and other stakeholders.
