Moritz Dörstelmann is a tenure-track professor for Digital Design and Fabrication at the Faculty of Architecture of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and managing partner of the construction company FibR GmbH.His academic and practical work demonstrates how digital design and fabrication strategies can be used to explore a novel architectural design and construction repertoire and enable socially relevant solutions to reduce resource consumption in construction.The Digital Design and Fabrication (DDF) professorship at KIT explores digital design and fabrication as enabling technologies for novel circular construction methods.The construction company FibR GmbH realizes architectural fiber composite lightweight structures for load-bearing structures, facades, and interiors through robotic fabrication and computational design. FibR's interdisciplinary team sees itself as digital master builders, covering all project phases from design, prototyping and certification to robotic fabrication and assembly of innovative lightweight structures in a digital and vertically integrated building process.Moritz Dörstelmann is a registered architect and studied architecture at RWTH Aachen University and the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, where he graduated with distinction in the master class of Zaha Hadid and Patrik Schumacher.From 2011 to 2017, as a research associate at the Institute of Computational Design and Construction (ICD) at the University of Stuttgart, he developed digital design and fabrication methods at the interface of research and teaching through full-scale research demonstrators.From 2017 to 2018, he continued to research digital construction technologies at 1:1 scale as a visiting professor for "Emerging Technologies" at TU Munich.Moritz Dörstelmann's scientific work is reflected in scientific publications, conference papers, awards, international lecturing and teaching activities, and a number of internationally visible 1:1 scale research demonstrator buildings.
