About Matthew O'Rourke
I manage public policy and regulatory affairs relating to cloud infrastructure and the build-out of AWS data centres in Australia and New Zealand, and also telecommunications policy across Asia Pacific. I have 25 years’ experience in IT&T law and regulation across more than 60 countries, with particular expertise in competition policy and telecommunications regulation. Prior to Amazon, I worked for Macquarie Technology Group and the Cable & Wireless International Group, in international consultancy, and with the telecoms sector regulators in Australia and Ireland. I have Master’s level qualifications in competition law and business. For fun I am researching part-time towards a PhD in law. My thesis explores how competition policy and economic regulation of telecoms markets might need to change in the light of network cloudification.
